Ellie Gill

Ellie Gill is a seasoned and passionate educator with over 30 years of experience in the field of education. She holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Elementary Education and has taught in a variety of settings, including public and private schools in New York City, as well as numerous homeschooling co-ops throughout the Peninsula.

Ellie is the devoted wife of her husband of 30 years and the proud mother of six children, all of whom she has homeschooled. At the heart of her teaching is a deep commitment to keeping Jesus at the center of every lesson. She prays daily over the school, each classroom, and every chair—inviting the Lord to be a part of everything that happens in her classroom. The curriculum she uses is Christ-centered, with Bible class as the foundation of the academic day.

Beyond the classroom, Ellie serves as the Children's Director at Manna Church in Newport News, a role she has faithfully held for four years. She finds joy in greeting families each week, planning and teaching Bible lessons, and creating a welcoming, home-away-from-home atmosphere in the Manna Kids Cove.

Who We Are

Joy School is a Christ-centered elementary homeschool co-op serving children from preschool 4 through 5th grade. We provide a nurturing, faith-filled environment where young learners grow academically and spiritually.

Our parent school, Kardia, serves students in grades 6–12, offering a strong academic program with the same commitment to Christian values. Both Joy School and Kardia share the welcoming facilities of Manna Church on Lucas Creek, creating a vibrant community of learners and families.

ABOUT US

OUR MISSION

At Joy School Christian Academy, we are a Christ-centered homeschool co-op dedicated to partnering with parents in their God-given calling to educate their children at home. We believe homeschooling is both a gift and a calling, and it is our heart to see both parents and children thrive in this journey.

Our co-op serves students from Preschool 3 through 5th grade in a structured, supportive environment rooted in a Biblical worldview. With small class sizes that encourage meaningful relationships and open dialogue, we focus on cultivating both academic excellence and Christlike character.

Through the use of the Abeka curriculum and a discipleship-driven approach to each subject, we help students grow in knowledge, develop strong critical thinking skills, and understand their true identity in Christ. At Joy School Christian Academy, we are committed to nurturing the next generation for both scholastic success and Kingdom impact.
